The Strange German Indianer


Well, that's very very interesting: Salon.com, a american feuilleton-style magazine, is writing about the germans who are playing indians in spare time. It's also about the very strange encounters with real indians. And here some americans are debating this news (I have to say that this discussion board tends to discuss things from the humorous side).

Vaybee!


In the SZ of the 18th decembre on the feature pages a very interesting article presents the "biggest German Ethnoportal", called "Vaybee!". That's a electronic platform for mostly young turkish people who live in Germany. Curosily it's only a homepage for travelling and partnership, but it shows the cut between the traditional turkish culture and the life young Turkish wanna live or real live in western societies. But it show also the internet as an example for a platform and a solution for such problems. The newspaper-article complete the view and interprete the concept and the realisation of the homepage. Brazilian Study: Social and Genetic Race Differs


Aspects of physical appearance are poor indications of a person's genetic ancestry, according to a new study by Brazilian researchers. (...) The most interesting finding, Pena noted, is that the researchers observed a significant dissociation between genomic geographical ancestry--African versus European--and social race, which was evaluated using multiple physical attributes that included skin pigmentation, color and texture of hair, eye color and shape of nose and lips. McDonalds lost in Mexico


After protests of mexicans, the government of the city Oaxaca in mexico did not allow the company McDonalds to build a fast food restaurant under the historic stone archways of Oaxaca's 16th century central plaza, also known as the zocalo. Gurdian Unlimited reports. So this is a case, were one culture refuses the adoption of a foreign culture.
