At the last meeting we decided that as many students as possible should send a protest letter to the bavarian minister of science. Eine andere Protestgruppe hat mir nun eine schöne Fassung von so einem Brief gemailt. Druckt ihn aus und versendet ihn, am besten als Einschreiben (hat sich da jemand bereits nach Kosten erkundigt?), das erhöht die Wirkung, da sich der Verwaltungsaufwand erhöht. Noch besser ist freilich, ihr gebt dem Brief eine persönlich Note ("Ich bin Ethnologiestudent und ...") ProtestAnschreibenGoppel (application/wordperfect5.1, 38 KB)

Der Aufruf, mit dem die Studenten den Brief ursprünglich begleitet haben, könnt ihr ebenfalls downloaden, das ist sicher sinnvoll, wenn der Brief irgendwo ausgelegt wird. ProtestAufruf (application/wordperfect5.1, 32 KB)

Eine erste Demonstration in Kooperation mit dem Konvent der wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter, ist für Donnerstag, 13.11., 11 Uhr angesetzt. Treffpunkt ist der Geschwister-Scholl-Platz, geplant ist ein Zug in Richtung Staatskanzlei. Bitte macht die Veranstaltung publik!!!
Bitte beachtet deshalb auch die weiteren Informationen auf dem angehängten Flyer und kommt zu der Vollversammlung am 19.11.2003 um 19 Uhr im AudiMax Hier werden zusammen mit allen Studierenden der LMU und dem Asta weitere Schritte zur Verhinderung dieser Kürzungen geplant.

Hm i am not sure if this belongs here, if not, i will move or remove it, but i read this article@sueddeutsche about dramatic cuts at universities in munic, and now im uncertain what this means for our institute. 600 positions not to be extended? Does that mean 24 of our tutors and lecturers have to go? Does anyone have recent infos?

In the wake of the globalization-discourse (what else?) the University of Munich stages a lecture series, which is open to everyone, on the future of Europe. Munich-based professors and invited guests will deliver the speeches; some of them (the speeches ;-) will be in English, and some have topics close to cultural anthropology. Read everything about the Ringvorlesung (in German).

Today (14. October 2003) at 18:00h Bayern2Radio airs a 30-minute special by our doctoral candidate Bettina Weitz which is called "Research by all senses: Methods of cultural science". In Munich you can receive Bayern2Radio on UKW 89,5 MHz. The special is broadcasted via the internet, too. At the webpage you can also find all other terrestrial frequencies. Critique is welcomed and may be sent by e-mail.
