Sie bietet Aktuelles zur Raumtheorie (Publikationen, Veranstaltungen usw.), eine Raumtheoretische Bibliographie (im Aufbau), sowie ein Kommentarprojekt von Guillaume Apollinaires "Lettre Océan". Die website ist interessant für die Thematik Cyberspace, aber auch hinsichtlich der ethnologischen Repräsentationsdebatte (Writing Culture usw.) -- siehe dazu:

Eingeladen von der Arbeitsgruppe Raum - Körper - Medium hält PD Dr. Robert Stockhammer (ZFL Berlin) am Montag dem 15. November 2004 um 13:00 s.t. einen Vortrag zum Thema "Space Oddity: Zur Konjunktur der Räumlichkeiten". Der Vortrag findet im Internationalen Begegnungszentrum der Wissenschaft in der Amalienstraße 38 in München statt. Plakat zum Vortrag (.pdf, 194KB)

Nach dem Vortrag findet eine "Präsentation aktueller Publikationen zur Raumtheorie" statt. Namentlich des Bandes "Von Pilgerwegen, Schriftspuren und Blickpunkten", dem ersten Sammelband der Arbeitsgruppe Raum - Körper - Medium: "Die aktuelle topographische Wende der Kulturwissenschaft bedarf einer theoretischen Fundierung. Sie sollte es ermöglichen, Raumkonstitution in ihrer Wechselwirkung mit Körpern und Medien zu beschreiben. Der kulturanthropologische Ansatz dieses Bandes geht davon aus, dass dem körperlichen Selbstverhältnis immer schon eine mediale Unterbrechung eingeschrieben ist. Räume lassen sich als Formationen verstehen, die dieser konstitutiven Unterbrechung in historisch wandelbaren medialen Dispositiven Gestalt geben. Die einleitenden theoretischen Beiträge entwickeln eine solche medienhistorische und kulturanthropologische Perspektive, die dann in historischen Fallstudien am Leitfaden mediengeschichtlicher Epochenschwellen vom Buchdruck bis hin zu technischen und elektronischen Medien erprobt wird. Interdisziplinäre Untersuchungen werfen hierbei Schlaglichter auf Raumpraktiken und Raummodelle in mittelalterlichen Pilgerführern, modernen Handschriften und Bildwerken, Filmen, Hörfunk und Computerspielen.". Neil Blair Christensen, a Journal Publishing Manager from Denmark, dedicates his research activities to the "coolest" aspects of cyberanthropology. He focuses on the dynamic use of WWW for representation of local, personal, ethnic and national identities, and the continuous change and (re)production of social organization and culture of indegenous people in circumpolar Arctic regions. He published a book on the topic Inuit in Cyberspace; Embedding Offline Identities Online; unfortunatelly not released under Creative Commons License. Ein Beispiel für die Umsetzung des Grundgedanken des Hypertexts ist Entwicklung hypermedialer Lernsysteme von Astrid Blumstengel aus dem Jahr 1998. Diese Umsetzung ist auch zugleich Thema der Arbeit, die für uns hinsichtlich der Frage nach der Repräsenation von ethnologischer Erkenntnis durchaus lesenswert ist. Es finden sich außerdem gute Kapitel über "Konstruktivismus" u.ä.

One of the most prominent registered users of Ethno::log, Chris Kelty of Rice University, Texas, has edited and published a series of articles at the "Social Thought and Commentary"-section of Anthropological Quarterly, called CULTURE'S OPEN SOURCES. Accordingly the series is published under a cc-licence and therefore free to download (.pdf, 487KB [KeltyBytes]). Out of sheer understatement -- amazing for a man, who sometimes outdoes Howard Rheingold with his shirts -- Chris hasn't posted this himself on Ethno::log.

It seems like THE proprietary-source-code-culture is attempting to adopt its formerly sworn enemy, the open-source-culture: "The software industry often is depicted as irreconcilably divided into mutually exclusive, rival camps of commercial and open-source providers. Market forces, however, are rendering this portrayal obsolete.
