ETHNOLOGIK - Special Edition - November 2004

Die Sonderausgabe der ETHNOLOGIK (November 2004) ist gestern frisch aus dem Druck gekommen. Die Auflage beträgt dieses Mal 500 Stück und wird KOSTENLOS in den Seminaren und über die Fachschaft verteilt. Sie dient der Positionierung der Ethnologie in München und enthält hervorragende Beiträge von Studenten und Doktoranden.

ethno.info jetzt als Weblog

Das "Portal für moderne Ethnologie", dass bisher vor allem als Forum und Wiki geführt wurde, wird diese Funktionen in Zukunft abschalten und in dem seit längerem bestehenden Weblog weiterleben. Unter blog.ethno.info findet man jetzt regelmäßiger aktualisierte Beiträge. Zusammen mit antropologi.info gehört es zu den Seiten, die alle neuen Ethno::log-Freunde regelmäßig lesen sollten. Wenn ihr interessante Artikel dort findet, übernehmt sie einfach in unser Weblog, und fügt in guter wissenschaftlicher Tradition am Ende eine Quellenangabe ein: "Via blog.ethno.info".

Marshall Sahlins goes Creative Commons

"Marshall Sahlins wants to make the Internet the new medium for traditional pamphleteering. Sahlins, a celebrated anthropologist at the University of Chicago and the founder of Prickly Paradigm Press, has decided to re-release the press's backlist with "some rights reserved." Aktuelle Studien und Bücher zu Afrika

Das Deutschlandradio hat einen ausführlichen Beitrag (MP3, 45min) über aktuelle Bücher online, die sich mit Afrika, sowie deren Beziehung zu Europa beschäftigen. Auch wenn man nicht vorhat, diese Bücher zu kaufen, ist der Beitrag sehr hörenswert, weil mit zahlreichen Autoren Interviews geführt wurden, darunter etwa auch der Schweizer Ethnologe David Signer und der Hamburger Hausa-Spezialist und Dozent in der Hamburger Uni, Abteilung Afrikanistik, Joseph McIntyre. Man sieht, dass ethnologische Perspektiven und Debatten, wie etwa die Diskussion über Hexerei in Ghana, korrekte Begrifflichkeiten, über das Bild Afrikas in Europa aber auch über Migrationsprobleme, durchaus in die Gesellschaft getragen werden können und dort auf Interesse stoßen.

Pictures from the German Colonial Era

Arne Schöfert has a wonderful collection of pictures from the german colonial era 1880-1920. Most of them are from books, romanticising the landscape and the life in the Kolonialreich. But there are also insulting comics about cannibals, like the Hottentotten Blaubuch.
"Das Gras ist hoch, der Weg ist schmal, Die Kiste macht dem Neger Qual. Es drückt der Elephantenzahn; Fährt hier den keine Eisenbahn?" (Aus dem "Kolonial Bilderbuch".) Very nice is also a special issue from the Simplicissimus, a famous german satire magazine from that time, with critical drawings against colonial politics and missionaries.
All pictures give a wide notion of the often researched conception, construction and imagination the europeans produced from the rest of the world. Via SWR

Was Ethnologen nach der Uni so treiben...

Ethnologie und berufliche Praxis Jetzt hoff ich mal den Link gabs hier noch nicht... (Ich hab zumindest nichts gefunden.) Zwar ist die Studie schon ein paar Monate alt, aber ich denke mal, die Thematik könnte interessant für den einen oder anderen sein. -> Ob diese Schweizer Studie auch für Deutschland Gültigkeit hat?

Voice of Africa Radio has been set up in East London to broadcast entertainment, information and political, economic and social news about Africa to Africans, especially those living in the United Kingdom and Europe.
