The Bayreuth Institute for American Studies (BIAS) is going to host the International Conference "Americanisms - Discourses of exception, exclusion, exchange" the 31st of January to the 1st of February 2008.

Researchers and scholars of various national and international universities set themselves "the task of analyzing the state of the art of American exceptionalism and its multi-faceted adaptations and reactions in politics, law, geography, ethnology, film, media, language, and culture" in this interdisciplinary conference.
