"Che Teresita - mein Teresita“

Die Filmemacherin wird anwesend sein und freut sich auf eine offene Diskussion über ihren Film.

Bunte, direkte und persönliche Bilder des Indianerdorfes Sta. Teresita im Paraguayischen Chaco entführen den Zuschauer in die Welt der Guarani-Indianer, die ihre Identität alljährlich im Vollzug des Maskenfestes "Arete Guasu" bestärken.

Der Film zeigt das Indianerdorf Sta. Teresita in Paraguay, in das Ilona Zindler 2004 das erste mal Füß setzte. Sie wohnte ein halbes Jahr dort (anfangs in einer Familie, dann im „Gemeindehaus“), um für ihre Magisterarbeit zum Thema 'Theatrale und rituelle Elemente des arete guasu der Guarani Occidentales im paraguayischen Chaco' zu forschen. Sie erlebte das Fest "arete guasu" mit, war quasi mittendrin, tanzte zur Musik, die das ganze Dorf in den gleichen Rhythmus tauchte. Es ist ein Ahnenfest mit Masken, das früher von den Guarani im Zusammenhang mit der Ernte des Maises gefeiert wurde. 2005 kehrte sie nochmals ein halbes Jahr dorthin zurück - hier entstanden weitere Aufnahmen.

Der schöne kleine Dokumentarfilm mit Offkommentar einer Sprecherin vertont, lief vor Kurzem beim Short Cuts Festival in Augsburg und bekam dort den 2. Platz.

Ilona Zindler ist eine eine ehemalige Studentin der Theaterwissenschaften und Ethnologie und hat seit 2005 ihren Magister. Ihre Magisterarbeit ist auch in Buchform erschienen: Máscaras y Espíritus: Elementos teatrales y rituales del arete guasu de los Guaraní en el Chaco Paraguayo. An der Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Georg-August-Universität Göttingen ist zum 1.10.2010 vertretungsweise eine W 2-Professur für Gesellschaft und Kultur im modernen Indien zu besetzen. Die Stelle ist auf zwei Semester befristet bis zum 30.9.2011.

Die Stelleninhaberin/der Stelleninhaber soll im Rahmen des neu gegründeten Zentrums für moderne Indienstudien die sozialwissenschaftliche Indienforschung in Forschung und Lehre vertreten. Das Stellenprofil umfasst das Engagement in drittmittelgestützter Verbundforschung im Zentrum, die aktive Beteiligung beim Aufbau der BA- und MA-Studiengänge "Interdisziplinäre Indienstudien" und "Modern Indian Studies" sowie die Kooperation mit den Studiengängen der Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät.

Bewerbungsvoraussetzung sind eine akademische Qualifikation in Ethnologie und/oder Soziologie, eigene Feldaufenthalte auf dem indischen Subkontinent und einschlägige Forschungen zu gesellschaftlichem Wandel, insbesondere mit Bezug zu sozialer Ungleichheit, ethnischer und religiöser Diversität oder Rechtspluralismus.

European cities are changing rapidly in partial response to the processes of de-industrialization, European integration and economic globalization. Public spaces of these cities, as essential ingredients of the urban image and experience, are increasingly playing an important part in this transition. A key question concerns the role that public spaces are expected to play in political, economic and cultural transformation of cities, and the impact of these transformations on the nature of public space as a shared resource. How are public authorities addressing the challenges of provision and maintenance of public space both as a catalyst for change and as a common good?

Interdisziplinäre Tagung 'Privatheit' (Passau, 19.-20. November 2010)

Das Private und seine Beziehung zum Nicht-Privaten sind kulturelle, epochen-, schicht- und altersgruppenspezifische Variablen. Das Private ist daher ein relationales Phänomen, das einen seiner möglichen Gegenbegriffe bereits voraussetzt und zunächst durch die Abwesenheit bestimmter Merkmale dieses oppositionellen Phänomens bestimmt ist.

Ziel der interdisziplinären Tagung ist es, eine Bestandsaufnahme der unterschiedlichen Formen und Funktionen von 'Privatheit' aus allen relevanten Forschungsperspektiven und Disziplinen (insbesondere auch Rechtswissenschaft und Informatik) vorzunehmen.

Papers that discuss the category of 'Labour' within Postcolonial Studies are invited for the postgraduate conference "Postcolonialism and Labour" in Chemnitz on th 26-27 March 2011.

Historically speaking, given its Marxist affiliations and the tropes of eurocentrism in universalising 'Labour' as a normative category against the local and particular, Postcolonial Studies has not engaged critically with the notion of 'Labour'.

However, the concept is now gaining purchase in the field owing largely to globalisation, international division of labour, immigration and the radical restructuring of work and professions both within and outside the West.

Yet, despite these recent developments, Postcolonial Studies can be criticised for effectively abandoning the economic essence of cultures by ceaselessly reworking 'difference', 'hybridity' and 'disjunctures' as the cultural markers of historical and persisting inequalities.

In the last twenty-five years we have witnessed the emergence of a wide range of literary and filmic productions that reconfigure the notion of 'Labour', including Hanif Kureishi's My Beautiful Laundrette (1985), J. M. Coetzee's Disgrace (1999), Monica Ali's Brick Lane (2003), Stephen Frears's Dirty Pretty Things (2003), Hari Kunzru's Transmission (2004), Mohsin Hamid's The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2007) and Aravind Adiga's White Tiger (2008).

This conference seeks papers that address, but are not limited to, the following questions:

• How, and in what ways, can the concept of 'Labour' be redressed from a culturally contingent perspective (as opposed to totalising Marxist approaches)?
• How does the recent surge of immigrant and diasporic literature and film reflect the workings of 'Labour' in their narratives?
• In light of globalisation – the increasing global division of labour, shifts and uncertainties of financial markets – is there a need for Postcolonial Studies to embrace the Marxist concepts of labour without categorically abandoning its culturalist project?

Papers are invited from postgraduates working in the disciplines of literature, history, cultural studies, sociology, film and media studies, human geography, linguistics, politics, religious studies and communication among others. Proposals reflecting an interdisciplinary approach are particularly welcome. Some suggested themes are:
