Das LRZ (Rechenzentrum der Münchner Hochschulen) stellt das neue DocWeb zum Beta test ins Netz.

Zur Erleichterung des Zuganges zu elektronischen Zeitschriften wird zur Zeit ein Webportal getestet. Unter Eingabe einer Universitätskennung können Interessierte nun versuchsweise Zeitschriften lesen, ohne wie bisher eine Pac-Konfiguration oder ein VPN zu benötigen: docweb.lrz-muenchen.de<.

Der Zugriff auf Zeitschriften wie Current Anthropology oder Ethnos kann nun ganz bequem von zu Hause ohne Besondere Konfiguration erfolgen. Das einzige was benötigt wird, ist eine CampusLMU-Kennung und das dazugehörige Passwort, um sich als Student der LMU zu authentifizieren.

In JAQUEIRA INDIAN RESERVE, Brazil, 42 ethnicities from all over Brazil came together to take part on the 7th Indigenous Peoples Games. There is an german article in Spiegel, including a few images. As the Houston Chronicle is writing, The seventh indigenous people's games were supposed to be a celebration of Brazil's Indian tribes, but they turned out to be another sad episode in their history of bad luck, neglect and exploitation. Unfortunately i could not find more information or images from the event.

German anthropologist Werner Schiffauer (Frankfurt/Oder) wrote an article about present German integration discourse. Published in Süddeutsche Zeitung, unfortunately there is no link. But you can read the newspaper in many German libraries. Date of publishing is Saturday, december 4th, page 14. Here I can't offer more than headlines and the beginning of the article...

Das Bild ist äußerst suggestiv – und es ist falsch. Es beruht auf der Folge von Gleichungen: Rechtgläubig konservativer Islam = Rückzug und Abwehr der Mehrheitsgesellschaft = Absage an Integration = Ursache von Parallelgesellschaften = Bereitschaft zur Gewalt. Keine dieser Gleichsetzungen hält einer genaueren Überprüfung stand.
