Für das auf zwei Jahre angelegte Projekt "Armut, soziale Unsicherheit und Globalisierung - Für die Stärkung sozialer Sicherheit" suchen Asienstiftung/Asienhaus einen Projektmitarbeiter / eine Projektmitarbeiterin für eine halbe Stelle. Ziel des Projektes ist es, Informationen über Entwicklungen vor allem im Bereich soziale Sicherheitssysteme, Gesundheits- und Bildungswesen durch Publikationen und Workshops zur Verfügung zu stellen und zum Dialog verschiedener gesellschaftlicher Gruppen über diese Frage beizutragen. Das Projekt wird sich dabei auf die Entwicklungen im insularen Südostasien, China und Burma konzentrieren. Bewerber und Bewerberinnen sollten folgende Voraussetzungen mitbringen: Kenntnisse über die sozialen Entwicklungen in der Region. Kontakte zu NRO in diesen Ländern sind wünschenswert. Kenntnisse der internationalen Debatte über Fragen der sozialen Sicherheit. Erfahrungen in Projektmanagement und -abwicklung und Netzwerkarbeit. Bereitschaft, sich in das Asienhaus-Team einzubringen und entsprechende Teamfähigkeit, wenn möglich Arbeitserfahrungen in einer NRO bzw. ein entsprechender Background. Sounds promising: The Ethnographics laboratory as part of the Center for Visual Anthopology (Dept. of Anthrop., USC). E-LAB claims to provide “archival and computer facilities for students and faculty who work with nonlinear editing systems and interactive media in anthropology. The primary mission of the Ethnographics Lab is to promote the integration of all forms of information, whether text, graphics of time-based media, into a new synthesis of anthropological knowledge. It provides support for research and representation in multimedia formats carried out in a new laboratory facility based on computer AV technologies and software.” But the output of the E-LAB remains poor - as far as online presentations are concerned. Only one E-LAB project (on Malawi and India) can be visited today. The early date of publication – in the nineties – might be an excuse for its rather basic structure.

I would be interested in hearing our cyber specialists' comments on these online-publications of fieldwork material. Are these useful approaches? Do they fulfil the requirements of what we think to be anthropological representations?
