Dept. of tech. adaption, zephyrin, May 11, 2004 9:31:22 AM CEST Africars Finally Africars is online! The beautifully desigend website is a project by one of our students, originally stemming from his own extensive fieldwork in western Africa. And I am so generous a man to host it on our university's server. The overall theme of the site is the cultural adoption of the automobile in Africa. The site contains vast image-material which in itself already is worthwhile to view. Those capable of reading German will find accompanying texts (work in progress). The whole site will grow more -- there are already some interesting parts in the making.... Comment

I guess the style was simply approximated to a certain 1950s style of US car-logos. Seen in this light, the Africando-logo is approximated to something earlier, too. And I guess, with a little effort you can find the applying font(s) on the internet.
And btw, do not "deep-link" to picture-files on other servers. The people who host the pictures may not like it. Instead, add the picture to the images section at Ethno::log. I fixed that for you in the case of the Africando-pic. ... Link

Thanks to the generous man for hosting this site, and for the advert, too! Sudan pics will follow soon. - No, I don't think the logo is abgeschaut. Fot the font (Cadillac-style?) ask my friend at www.langerietz.de who designed the logo for me.
